The Story of Elleon Biotech & PhenoDot.
Like most parents during the COVID-19 pandemic Dr Yip had great concerns over how best to protect her new born daughter. Noticing a distinct lack of published data about the effectiveness of each of the vaccines or solid data about the booster requirements, especially in infants, she took it on herself to develop something new, something to answer her worries and concerns, and so the first version of PhenoDot was born.
A memory B cell detection assay which allows direct quantification of memory B cells specific to SARS-CoV-2 antigens in one day.
Since then we have really started to unlock the potential of a new form of immunoassay with so many potential advantages in so many fields we are only scratching the surface of what could be possible with PhenoDot.

Dr Lydia Yip
With an MSc in Biomedical Science, Dr Yip went on to be the lead biological scientist with a research group at the University of Birmingham reading into Electrochemical Biosensors.
Through her PhD she developed, published papers, and patented a novel biosensor for near real time, cellular level, dissolved oxygen measurement in solutions. Prior to this she was research associate at the University of Birmingham with publications in toxicology and cancer related fields. Her many publications are under the name Nga Chi Yip or NC Yip.
Following graduation from her PhD she started up her first company earning European funding and developing her first patented product.
Following this she founded the UK based LabWide Solutions Limited which she later moved to Hong Kong in it’s current guise as LabWide Solutions HK Limited. Starting off as an R&D company and supplier of laboratory consumables, she has lead the company to expand into contract research in both chemical analytics and biological fields. During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic she lead the team to become an ISO 17025 testing lab to aid in the mask shortage crisis and to become Hong Kong first accredited VFE test supplier.
She maintains the core values of LabWide Solutions to improve lives through scientific learning, invention, development, and understanding.
Dr Chi Wai Tsang
With a first degree from the University of Birmingham in Medical Biochemistry, Dr Tsang went on to read into Nasal Phalangeal Carcinoma.
Later he spent over 10 years as lead of the Chemical Analysis facility at the University where he contributed to countless Undergraduate, PhD, and Professorial research projects earning him numerous publications for his contribution to their work.
He has lead innumerable industrial projects for the likes of P&G, Shell Oil and many other industrial leaders. From troubleshooting production to developing new technologies and research and development.
His engineering prowess falls only just short of his scientific achievements. He’s spent his years studying with countless engineers from a broad spectrum of manufacturers and knows his instruments inside out.
His contribution to the Chemistry scientific community has earned him membership to the Royal Society of Chemists.
Daniel Sherlock-Yip
Daniel’s most recent achievements include co-founding and leading his team to establish an ISO 17025 testing laboratory at the outset of COVID-19.
Formal education is a BSc in Biochemistry and in his early career trained in hospital pharmacy specifically in aseptic pharmacy in preparation of intravenous and intrathecal chemotherapy preparation. He then trained as a technology integration specialist, specialising in facility design, and integration of audio-visual systems, lighting and HVAC. Daniel was later a co-founder of an adventure sport company based in Italy offering high level bespoke extreme sports vacations in the Italian Alps. He then moved to Hong Kong where he founded a contract research organisation and the testing laboratory in response to demands for better protection from COVID-19.
